Proverbs Chapter 10, verses 1-32 is a continuous demonstration of the wisdom imparted to Solomon from the omnipresent, omnipotent,omniscient/sagacious/all-wise God. Written in 970-930 BC, Before Christ era, Proverbs offers continuous foreshadows on how to resist wrong-doings and temptations and how to live “Christ like.” Chapter 10 initially offered wise advice to the men of Israel. Proverbs 10:1 tells the reader that Solomon advised men, to obtain wisdom – a characteristic that would make a proud father. However, Proverbs cautioned men about being foolish and a disappointment to his mother. Further reading proves Proverbs Chapter 10 is beneficial to all people – the wise, the uninformed, the rich, and poor.
By embracing the immeasurable advice in Proverbs Chapter 10, every person can have a right relationship with God. Fundamentally, important, and consequently, is a healthy relationship with others. Let’s examine more verses: vs.2 Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death… when one obtains wealth or material items illegally or maliciously, on the surface, one may appear happy and content for the moment, however Proverbs reminds us it will not be that way for long, unrest will follow!
Verse 5 – expounds on how one is considered shameful when they deliberately miss opportunities. Verse 9 - We must live our lives in such a way one can walk with their head held high knowing they walk in the light…yet, if one lives unjustly it will eventually be exposed! Verse 12 - A strong dislike for another will cause opposition, however love will cover innumerable faults.
Further reading in Proverbs 10:21 advises, the lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. The next verse 22, shares one of the benefits of having a full life in God… The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Proverbs 10 describes characters we all can learn from, the scholarly wise people, the simple-minded, the compassionate, and the wicked. As a final point, back then, Proverbs Chapter 10 vividly described to the Israelites how to live God’s way and expounded on the results of “not” living righteously – and it still holds true today! We should make a conscious effort to learn from, and adhere to the wisdom shared in Proverbs.Daily, righteous, non-pretentious characteristic of our life, based on Proverbs, will ultimately prove advantageous!
