Day 17, Proverbs Chapter 17

Don't Be a Fool

Armeade Powell

Proverbs is a teaching Book written by Solomon the wisest man on Earth, David's boy. God endowed the favor on him to build God's temple. He couldn't allow David to build it because he had blood on his hand (meaning David was a man of war who had killed many enemies).

vs 1 speaks of peace and strife or stress, an half hour lunch rushed meal compared to a Sunday afternoon meal surrounded in peace by friends and family.

vs 2 speaks of spoiled ,selfish children having no regards for an inheritance ,relinquishes all to the slave to run.

vs 3 The Lord purges us until we become like pure gold.

vs 5 do unto others as you would have done toward you.

vs 6 Parents are to raise up the child correctly and be an example, to make the child proud of them. Grandchildren raised by parents with the same attitude makes the elders proud when asked, "Who is your mama".

vs 7 The king does not need to hear your lies and excuses he already owns everything. Solomon asked God for wisdom as one of his blessings.

vs 14 Instigating a quarrel opens a dam, and is blown all out of proportion.

vs 15 Make good judgement according to God's will.

vs 16 It is a waste of money to try to educate someone who doesn't want to or believe he can learn.

vs 17 Families are always there for each other, few friends do you find so faithful.

vs 18 Don't take on others responsibilities unless you intend to pay them.

vs 19 To every action is a reaction and consequence.

vs 20 God knows our hearts and thoughts, saying one thing and meaning another is wrong and won't work.

vs 21 A child that grows up under nurtured grows up to be a fool and does not make his parents proud.

vs 22 What 2 can easily do is so hard to done by 1.

vs 23 Things done under the table will surface, and come to light.

vs 24 Lolly gagging and day dreaming gets you nowhere fast.

vs 25 Raising a child in the right way and seeing him go wrong is a painful thing. Parents blame themselves and each other.

vs 26 (See vs 7)

vs 27 Wisdom requires patience and the Holy Spirit for understanding.

vs 28 The person who holds his tongue and listen learns the most. Speaking out without listening, and comprehending shows short sightedness.
