"Prophetess Huldah"
Huldah was a Prophetess. A Prophetess is a female messenger of God who foretells future events. There were six other Prophetesses mention in the Old Testament: Sarah, Miriam, Deborah, Hannah, Abigail, and Esther. There is not a lot written about Huldah, but that which is written I found to be life changing. Israel was the chosen people of God, but was forever testing God's patience. They were held in bondage due to disobedience before Huldah’s time and would be held in bondage again.
During this time in history the Book of the Law had been lost. The people were again worshipping idols and practicing pagan rituals. When the Books of the Law was discovered King Josiah sent his messenger to the Prophetess Huldah. She informed them what the Lord said, “I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof.” When King Josiah received this message, he went into the house of the Lord with all the men of Judah, and he read to them the word of the Lord which reads:
- I am the LORD thy God
- Thou shalt have no other gods
- No graven images of likenesses
- Not take the LORD’s name in vain
- Remember the Sabbath day
- Honor thy father and thy mother
- Thou shalt not kill
- Thou shalt not commit adultery
- Thou shalt not steal
- Thou shat not bear false witness
- Thou shalt not covet
God loved his people, even when he disciplined them, they were never forsaken. God is saying the same thing today. God is displeased with the sin that is happening in the world today. We need to go back to the basic – Starting with the Book of the Law.
