The Woman with the Issue of Blood

"The Pressing of the Woman with the Issue Of Blood"
Nina Thomas

Luke 8:43-48 (NKJV) 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” 46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

The woman with the issue of blood is a very familiar passage of scripture. Each time you read it, it can bring you a new level of revelation. As stated above this woman had an issue for years. Typically, people would give up on something after dealing with it for so long. Many people will become “comfortable” in an uncomfortable situation. However, this woman was not willing to give up on her healing. She had done all she could do within the 12 years. Others had given up on her. She had run out of “natural” options. Sometimes we get to a point in life where we have tried and tried and tried to fix things. We have tried to make it work our way. We have tried to heal ourselves, yet nothing happened. We get to a point where we realize it will take a supernatural intervention for us to get to where God wants us to be.

She, at the time, was in the presence of Jesus. He was there in the flesh. Jesus, while on earth carried power and miracles everywhere He went. She had faith and knew if He was there, her healing was there. She knew she had to press her way to Him so she could receive her healing. If she had given up before He arrived, she could have been dead, depressed or lacked faith, but instead she pressed. She pushed through the crowd, the negativity, the doubt and all that came her way. She focused on the goal which was Healing through Jesus. She believed without doubting. She did not ask Jesus to heal her, she knew if she pressed, believed and if she touched just His garment that she would be made whole. She expected to be healed. She was healed immediately. She understood the power He possessed and she went for it. The word of God says “if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20) Her faith moved the mountain of illness from her body. Healing is available to all of us.

We expect Jesus to do the work, when He has done all the work. When He said “It is Finished” and gave up the ghost, He did it all. Healing of the mind, body and soul is available to us. Like the woman with the issue of blood we must have faith/trust, never give up, put a demand on our healing and grab it. She grabbed her healing. She did not stop Jesus, she went after Him and grabbed it. Often times we pray and pray and pray and pray for something and God is saying it is ours for the taking. We are sitting in our mess, our issues and not getting what is already ours. She had to grab His garment because wherever Jesus was, there the power was also. When Jesus died, rose and ascended to heaven, he sent the comforter to us. That is the Holy Spirit. Now wherever the children of God is, the power of God is. We have to push through the world, pushing towards the anointing of God.

There are so many issues, illnesses, lack and so forth in the world with the children of God and there does not have to be. Jesus paid it all for us. The same power that healed the woman with the issue of blood, is the same power that lives in us. This was an unplanned miracle that Jesus performed while walking through a crowd. We, as Christians, should be walking in complete healing. We should have nothing lacking. It starts with our faith. Do we believe God is who He says He is? Do we believe Jesus is who He says He is? If we do, then we must exercise our faith. We must grab our healing. Not just physical healing, but spiritual, emotional, financial and all. God wants us to live whole. The woman with the issue of blood was made whole and Jesus told her to go in peace. When you are whole you have peace. Again you must ask yourself if you truly believe. If you believe, then you must walk in your healing. Start with healing your mind. You hear enough about what will not happen for you or what you cannot do from the world. Push pass that and tell yourself what you can do and will do. Doctors can only do what they can do, but you know and have a doctor that specialize in everything and never fails. Take your healing. Read and know the word of God. Believe in the word of God and live the word of God. God will and wants to heal you. No issue, sickness or time limit limits God. Nothing is impossible with God. You must know that. You must remind yourself of the women with the issue of blood. Walk in faith daily and press. Yes you will face things but press. Press your way to victory. Victory if already yours!
